Pacifica also finished with an SCPA Bronze medal in 2004 and a WGI silver medal in 2005. The Pacifica drumline is only the second ensemble to ever capture four consecutive WGI World Championship gold medals. The first was Franklin Central who captured 5 consecutive gold medals in PSCW (Percussion Scholastic Concert World) from 1998 to 2002 WGI Hall of Champions.
Each fall, Pacifica’s award winning Color Guard squad (also known as the Auxiliary) takes to the football field with the marching band during half time and at competitions, and tells a story to the audience. They tell this story by taking the music being played and bringing it to visual life through dance and the use of such equipment as flags, performance rifles, and sabres.
In the spring, the group transitions into Winter Guard season – a competition team that uses their artistry to tell a new story, this time on a basketball court, using recorded music. The technique and equipment may be the same, but the ability to use and manipulate any music across any genre coupled with the much more intimate setting of a school gymnasium allows them to connect with the audience on a whole new level.
Both seasons requires extreme dedication and artistry to pull off shows that can be hard and raw one moment, then soft and graceful the next. Our group of ladies and gents continue to dazzle and amaze, and Pacifica could not be more proud of them!
The Pacifica Jazz band is an ensemble made up of musician from our campus who are interested in improvisation and arrangement. Our ensemble works on building their musical abilities by creating custom arrangements for the specific instruments in the ensemble, which gives a new and exciting musical opportunity each year. Our performance vary from Open houses across the school district, to backing vocalists on school and local events.
Pacifica String Orchestra is a highly motivated and dedicated ensemble of musicians from all levels. These students work diligently to master music from a variety of genres from Classical to Pop in a variety of setting, be it a traditional concert, performing for a Ballet ensemble, with Choral accompaniment, or with some elements of Contemporary/Urban Dance.
